Tulku Ugyen Chemchok
Tulku Ugyen Chemchok was born on 15 August 1956 in Kalimpong in India
as a son of Chhimed Rigdzin Rinpoche. 16th Gyalwa Karmapa and Dudjom Rinpoche recognized him as a tulku of Lama Wonpo Ugyen from Zhechen Monastery and Chhimed Rigdzin Rinpoche recognized him as Vairochana’s emanation.
Tulku graduated from Visva Bharati University with the title of Master of Arts
in History, Culture and Archaeology of Ancient India, and Tibetan Language
and Literature. From 1986 to 1995 he was working as a lecturer in the Centre
for Himalayan Studies at North Bengal University. In 1990, during his journey
with Chhimed Rigdzin Rinpoche to Tibet, he received transmission of the whole Khordong Tersar.
In 1995, he left his post at North Bengal University and engaged in supervision of construction of Khordong Monastery in India. On Losar 2002 he was nominated by Chhimed Rigdzin Rinpoche as his regent the head of the Monastery. Since then Tulku Ugyen has devoted himself to managing the Monastery and upholding Khordong tradition by activities of Chhimed Rigdzin Association. Almost every year Tulku La visits Europe to teach and bestow initiations.
